une Belle histoire

Okay, okay, enough with the plays on words. I can't resist.

I admit it, I test and challenge my monkey's authority. But at the end of the day, even when he thinks he's in charge, I'll trick him into a back scratch or leg massage. Even between us dogs, we can
be so competitive as to who is well behaved and who isn't.

Take this morning, Belle the oh-so-well-behaved little lady of the park lost a few demerit points on her good dog card. It all started after her morning poop. While he owner was doing "clean up in isle 4", she was quietly seated at the curb waiting to go across the road to the park. Then Baxter was leaving the park and she got a little excited, and before you could say pooper scooper she bolted across the road (luckily there were no cars!) and made a bee line for me.

Have you ever seen a bee fly, I chase them all the time and I still have no idea what a bee-line is. Apparently the 99 bus from UBC is a bee line too.

So eventually Belle made it over to me and we were having a good ol' time until she was called back and would you believe it... she disobeyed. You go girl! It took a few tries until she was off for re-education on curb and street etiquette.

After that it was all quiet while Robbie, Lucy, Charley and I played a ball game of some sort. I ran with the ball, Charley stole it gave it to Robyn who threw it, Lucy chased it down first as usual, Charley stole it, I stole it back, and so on. Ace was there as a fifth wheel, but I think he was eyeing Charley. Creepy.

Belle returned and then somehow Belle and I were tearing away on a Grand Tour de Park with me in the lead (with a ball) and Belle chasing hard. I looped inside the ball diamond a few times then shot the gap out into the bleachers and Belle crossed one of those invisible lines our owners draw and she was called back, but the chase was too good!

We managed another 3-4 big loops at full speed until she was pooped and decided to listed to her owner who was now leaving! Even then she was not into teaching a clinic in "come".

Or "sit-stay" as Bert will attest to.

Ah, good times at the park.

Later,

The Gaffer
