Now I'm as swift as a gazelle!

Hiya Doggers,

I've been negligent in my blogging duties. I wanted to tell you about my running with the triathlon group now that they accept me as one of the pack.

Last Wednesday we were running in Jericho Park and did this long loop on trails, too a break then did it again. First we warmed up nice and easy for about 10 minutes, that's about how long it takes when you go out to pee before bed. Most of it being sniffing, watching, listening and a very short instant to pee.

So we warmed up easy then did some accelerations where we ran through a field getting faster and faster. It was so cool! I could chase people, jump after them and all they did was laugh. we did that four times (the number of legs we have).

Then came the good stuff. We ran a whole 1500 m (according to Andrew); fast and without stopping! Well, I stopped a few times to sniff things and check some stuff out, but I caught up again. The last 200 m was so hard. We ran along side the duck ponds and there were ducks everywhere, but I had to ignore them and finish the workout. Apparently I ran this 1500 m in 5:20, not bad for a little brown dog from what they said to me.

We rested a while then did it again, this time I managed a 5:05! I think I could go faster if my monkey would run a little quicker as I often hold back to run with him.

That was so much fun.

This week we did a track workout at the same place we went for my 1st birthday. That was the time there was running, frisbee throwing, ball lying everywhere and a big sandy pit to dig in. It was by best birthday ever!

So we warmed up again, even though it was pretty hot already. Luckily the other Andrew (who wants to drug test me because I run so fast) brought extra water for everyone including me. After warm-up we did some accelerations, my monkey ran with me on the grass while the rest ran on the track. I think I was excited because I was feeling bratty, jumping and barking a lot.

The main workout was 10 x 400 m, which was once around the track and then rested until 3:00 minutes was up from when we started the 400. We ran quite fast for how hot it was, 1:25 for the first one and slowly fatser and faster until the last was around 1:11. I had to stop early on the third one to poop, but my monkey came back to clean it up. Good monkey!

The monkey's freaky heart rate (that funny thumping thing under your ribbers) for the run.
On a few of the 400's I ran the first straight then stopped and ran back to catch them as they finished. I don't think they noticed!

In the end I did 7 or 8 full 400s, more than enough for a little dog who is only just learning to run...
