Hiya Doggers!
Its back! This past Saturday and Sunday was the best weekend in recent memory. Then again, I do live in the now, so it may well be the only weekend in memory...
Whatever! It was so much fun! :~ :~ :~
I was driven up to Cypress mountain both days. Saturday was a short hike on snowy trails, very cool. No really, it was cool. About -7 C and I needed my jacket on and I was still shivering a little when we finished and I wasn't moving in fast forward.
Now Sunday... that was the best day. :~ :~ :~
Way more powder and snowing like crazy! My monkey and Aunty Martina were snowshoe running (well walking at times) while I was on foot (again). We headed up Hollyburn towards the top of the upper xc trails for a good 1:30 romp in the snow.
A few times they tricked me into thinking I wasn't the alpha male and took a different trail than me at intersections, but I knew what they were up to so I was still in charge ;-) At those times I had to demonstrate my superior snow speed and incredible four x four claw assisted cornering abilities, not to mention defensive blitzing and shoulder checking to make my way back to the front of the line.
Let me tell you, when you're stuck behind a snowshoe runner in powder its like a snowblower in your face! I was the abominable snow dog by the time I could push past into the lead!
On our way back we took a less used trail and the snow was soooo deep! I was swimming through shoulder deep snow, falling into powder holes, climbing out, falling again,... It was good to see Aunty Martina having as much trouble as I was on this section. He he he At one point I had to push past by climbing over her, I may have been a little OCD at the time, sorry Aunty :P :P :P
When we got back to the car I was pooped! Both Aunty Martina and I were covered in snow and possibly equally tired :~ :~ :~
But I was the lucky one who got to sleep the whole way home on her lap while on my blanket. In my books that makes me the alpha.
Later doggers,
The Gaffer
