Guess what I did today!
My monkey and I went up to Cypress Mountain and snowshoed all the way to the top of Hollyburn Ridge in lots of fresh snow! My monkey had to rent snowshoes as the snow was much deeper than usual and very soft.
We went in and out of the forest and in places I had to let my monkey go first, not because he was leading the way or in charge, but because it was too deep for me! I was up to my tummy and boy was that cold!
We went past the place we usually turn around and climbed all the way to the top today. On the final climb the snow was very powdery and deeper than I was tall when I stepped off the trail (by accident, or curiosity, or... whatever!).
At one point it was so deep I got stuck and had to get lifted out. I felt a little silly, but my monkey knows when to bail me out. Apparently the snow was close to 75 cm deep in places at the top where the wind had blown it over the trail.
I wasn't sure what the top meant but there was a pole there and we went up to it. Seemed kind of pointless but I was along for the ride! I mean I was in leading the way.
The clouds were very low and sweeping in and out of the climb, so I couldn't see anything other than white snow and grey skies. And some yellow snow, but I don't know where that came from...
We ran down the hill pretty fast and we only wiped out a few times. It was so much fun!
Let's do that again!
