Hiya Doggers,
Never one to be Miss Manners, firstly 'cause I'm a boy and secondly 'cause I would be a hypocrite, I do have a weight in on an event from this past weekend.
Sunday afternoon, snow on the ground, lots of doggers playing happily. Except for the new guy who decided to pee on a few of the caregivers who bring us to the park. Now what is the deal with that?
Even worse behaviour was the lack of reprimand he received from his caregivers, which by omission is condoning and reinforcing the behaviour! If I were them I would have been furious at the dogger and upheld my responsibility to teach him right and wrong. That is assuming his caregivers know the difference... Which they did as they were philosophizing the finer aspects of why two caregivers now have super stinky, un-neutered dogger pee soaking their pant legs.
News Flash! This is not educating to a dogger as we don't understand philosophy!
Learning about right and wrong is essential, it saves your bacon and gets you parole faster when you can show that. When I do wrong (yes, it's hard to believe but it does happen) and I know it, I drop my ears and assume a submissive posture to show I know I did wrong. I show I have learned, even if my actions don't quite match up all the time.
As a youngster, he needs to learn but in this case he wasn't receiving his proper education.
If I could philosophize, I might be curious as to why the other caregivers didn't educated them as to acceptable behaviour in the community. However, failure to accept responsibility in monkey society can be a warning sign, just like snarling or wearing a tutu and flippers while skateboarding down Broadway.
