Hiya Doggers,
I've been a lazy blogging dog, but here are some updates from my summer adventures...
I've had a few firsts recently, the most notable being my recently acquired skills as a nautical dog. Yup, I've been out in a boat! It was quite a dilemma and I think my monkey gave me a big hint when he got my doggy PFD out of storage... I just thought it was another cool outfit.
Duh!
Like who would wear a puffy foam filled vest in the summer, but it made me look beefier ;-) So I wasn't going to complain if it could move me up in the pack order using a "size upgrade".
So I've been out in English Bay in a motor boat, cruisin' around. Sometimes it was bumpy and I helped my monkey by sitting on his lap the whole time. That way I could make sure I kept him safe with a hand on my PFD.
It took me a while, but eventually in smoother water I could stand up and surf the boat through the waves and wind. It was pretty cool.
I just wasn't sure where to look when in the boat; I like looking back at where I've come from, or at the boats with other people in them. When closer to the dock, I can't take my eyes off the dry land. And its not that I'm a bad swimmer, I'm a super swimming dog with beaver and platypus genes!
I'm also a good runner. Now that my injured claw is all back and doesn't hurt I'm running again.
Last week I took my triathlon club for a run-swim aquathon around Buntzen Lake. We ran around the lake, around 11 km with a few stops for swims along the way. I was amazing on the first swim around the fish hatchery (whatever that is-but it smells like fish) and finished second after showing my tail to Aunty Stephanie and Aunty Martina, although I puked something nasty once I could stand on the bottom again :P
On the next swim I was more conservative and swam circles around my monkey trying to herd him to shore- without luck I might add. Either I shouldn't have skipped border collie classes when I was at school :-) or I need more pack cred'
After that, my monkey, Aunty Stephanie and Aunty Martina swam off and I was told to stay with Uncle Rob (#4 in the pack order) and run over (with him and the others) to where my monkey would join us. I was not keen on that, but apparently I followed my monkey's shoes willingly and it made me feel less anxious while he was gone.
It was raining pretty hard after that and I wasn't too keen on much more of anything but getting out of the rain and napping.
So I napped, a wet, tired but contented dogger.
